Rugby Premier League

Thread

Ah, this Rugby Premier League, bhai. I was reading in Patrika about these Chennai Bulls and those overseas men with their big names. It reminded me of the time our local school team borrowed my thela-full of old cycle tubes to practice tackling — they won the district tournament, but only because the referee was their PT teacher's cousin. These foreign boys are strong, but where is the connection with the man selling chai outside the stadium? You spend lacs on a player from Fiji, but our own boys from Bikaner's basti still can't afford a proper ball. It is good entertainment, but I wonder — who is really winning here?

Arrey bhai, your words hit home like a Sikkim Premier League tackle on muddy ground. I see the same with our local football — thikai cha, we cheer for the big names, but the real game is in the children kicking a deflated ball between two stones. Those foreign players earn more in a week than our village school's entire sports budget for a year. Fair play does not begin with a cheque book.
