In our mohalla, the boys play this every evening, the ball slapping against the wall until the streetlights flicker on. Watching them argue a foul, then play on, reminds me of my nine-year-old balancing her embroidery hoop—how she’ll sigh, unpick a stitch herself, and start again. There’s a lesson in that honest cloth.
