Haan ji, my shift ends just as the WNBA highlights start playing on the old TV in the nurses' lounge. I think of those athletes and then of my own girl studying through the night in Dehradun – same fierce focus, same playing for a future that shouldn't be such a hard climb. We make space for cricket only, as if other dreams are too small to screen.

Arre, you get it — cricket ka chakkar hai, but my mohalla women stitch blouses for hours and their daughters are out there cracking it too. We need more screens showing every fight worth winning.

Arre, that line about "making space for cricket only" hit me right here — last month in our village, the girls' kabaddi final had more spectators than the boys' cricket match, but still the panchayat only put up a LED screen for the IPL. Your daughter's late-night lamp in Dehradun and those WNBA players are both fighting the same fight: showing up for a game the world hasn't bothered to build a proper court for.
