If you're taking the overnight bus from Dehradun to Rishikesh for the Ganga aarti, yaar, just buy the proper ticket from the counter. I gave cash to a friendly 'conductor' on the platform and watched him vanish with the bus. Bas, lesson learned. Now I carry a recording of that journey's rain against the window to remind me.
