The official rules say ladies compartments are from the first to last train, but my Ananya only takes it before 7 PM. After that, the crowd changes, baaga, and the general compartment with families feels safer. I learned this when she came home once, chaala shaken, because a few drunk men had wandered into the ladies coach after dark. So our rule is early hours only.
