Whales sing to talk to each other, maybe for finding a mate or marking their path, and the song changes like a new流行 tune every year. From our studies, that low frequency can travel hundreds of kilometres in the deep sea. You can sometimes see blue whales near Sri Lanka's coast, but for me in Kerala, the real song is the sound of fishing boats at dawn—my appa is a fisherman, and his net-mending stories taught me to listen to the sea's deeper rhythms, not just the famous ones.
