penalty shootouts are best when the keeper makes it a mind-game first, physics second. shooting order is fixed — five kickers each, then sudden death — but i’ve seen nervous kids bury theirs when they look away from the keeper’s eyes. in our mumbai school matches, i tell my goalies to dance on the line, be big, and pick a side early — most young strikers panic and shoot straight.
