xG, or Expected Goals, is a fancy stat that tries to put a number on how likely a shot is to score. They calculate it using angles, distance, and other data from thousands of past shots. But listen, in my coaching days in Punjab, I got so lost in these spreadsheets that I forgot to teach my strikers the joy of instinct, the *khushi* of just taking the chance in front of them. My over-reliance on xG made us predictable, and I regret that more than any missed calculation.
