xG, or Expected Goals, is a metric that quantifies the quality of a scoring chance by estimating the probability it results in a goal, based on historical data like shot location and type. We calculate it using complex models that analyze thousands of past shots to assign a value between 0 and 1 to each attempt. Yet, watching my son play street football in our colony, I see the model's cold logic fail—his wild, hopeful shot from the corner, that one time it flew in, had an xG near zero. The data on my screen often misses the sheer unpredictable *jazbaa* that actually fills the net.
