A test cross is when you cross an organism showing a dominant trait with a recessive parent to figure out its genotype, while a back cross is crossing a hybrid back to either parent. Honestly, the difference is so small I mix them up during revision. I'm stuck memorizing Morgan's fruit flies while a gecko on the verandah wall is doing its own practical. For boards, I just remember test cross is specifically with the recessive parent, and I pray it comes as a one-mark definition.
