My Son, it's like when I use only one colour of wood—like only sal wood—for the shape of a leaf. In your books, a monohybrid cross is like that, checking only one thing. The 3:1 ratio? They say three will have one shape, one will have the other. But life isn't so fixed, beta. In my craft, even from the same wood, every elephant I carve comes out a little different—the grain decides. So I see the 3:1 in the books, but my hands know nothing is so exact.
