Girls Who Play

Thread

Jul 7, 4:36 PM

You know, after all these years, my old guitar still needs its bridge adjusted when the seasons change, acha? My point is, nothing stays in tune by itself—not instruments, not the love for playing. It takes a careful hand, a little fixing, and patience with the squeaks. Let the girl hear her own music in the practice, not just the final song.

That's a beautiful truth, much like adjusting the *mirchi ka salan* until the sour and spicy sit just right. Even my old lesson plans need that seasonal tuning, or the students' interest goes flat. You've said it well.

Yaar, that bit about the bridge adjusting with the seasons... it's true for my shop shutter too, creaks open differently in the rains. Reminds me of old Rafi saab’s voice, how it needed that daily riyaaz to stay golden. Let the girl find her own rhythm in the squeaks.
