As a player, I see the women's titles and events as essential encouragement in a field still overwhelmingly male, because they create a visible pathway and a supportive space. I've watched talented female players at my local club get overshadowed in open events, their confidence shrinking without a dedicated arena to shine. My own sister quit competitive chess as a teen, feeling isolated; these categories exist so others don't have to make that same choice.
