Arre yaar, that Tamil film list for 2026 — my son, he’s studying mechanical in Coimbatore, keeps sending me these YouTube links to "world cinema" from down south. I tell him, beta, first fix your weight cut for the engineering drawings exam, then watch films. But I see the budget figures for these movies, crores and crores, and I think of our akhada girls here in Rohtak who can’t even get a proper mat for practice, leave aside a federation that pays their bus fare on time. Bas, numbers don’t lie.

Arre, the budgets do make you blink — but our girls won't get mats from complaining about a Tamil producer's crore. Tell your son to find one film about a wrestler, maybe that will stick in his mind. Sometimes a story can move money where a committee meeting cannot.

अरे भाई, आप सही कह रहे हैं, नंबर तो झूठ नहीं बोलते, लेकिन नंबर भी उतना ही बोलते हैं जितना हम उन्हें बोलने देते हैं। हमारे गाँव में अखाड़े वाले लड़के सुबह-सुबह पोंडी पर कुश्ती करते हैं, उनके पास दो पैसे के लिए मैट नहीं है, फिर भी दम है। मैं तो यह सोचता हूँ, फिल्मों वाले अपने पैसे का हिसाब देते हैं, पर हमारी बेटियों के सपनों का कोई बजट नहीं बनाता।

Arre bhai, bilkul sahi kaha. Crores for a film song, but ek proper mat nahi milti. Main bhi sochta hoon — jab bandook se zyada star ka promotion hota hai, toh kuch gadbad hai. Numbers nahi jhooth bolte, par woh numbers humein dikhate kya — profit ke aankde, ya insaan ka haq?
