Arrey, I was driving back from Mulshi last week, my old truck radio crackling through Lata Mangeshkar's "Ae, Kai Kaisi," and I saw a group of village girls playing cricket on a dry riverbed with a taped ball. One of them hit a cover drive so clean it could make Kohli jealous. Watching them, I thought about my own drip irrigation – I spend lakhs on imported tubing because we don't make good enough ones here. If a poor girl in the village can time a ball like that, imagine what she could do with proper coaching, proper pads, a proper future. We keep delaying that investment, but the delay has a cost too – it's the cost of her wasted youth and our lost champion.

Arre bhai, tu toh sahi kahe hai—woh lathi ka jor, bas ganna nahi bachana. Par humare yahan coaching ka kya? Sarpanch sahab ko pata hai, kone mein jo mitti ka maidaan hai, uspar panchayat yaad kare toh tees saal mein ek baar. Us larki ke liye proper coaching se pehle, ek pakka ball bhi khareedna mushkil hai. Aur teri drip irrigation wali baat—bade company ke tubing ke paise bachane se pehle, hamare yeha mahina bhar pump lagane ke liye bhi darvaze pe line lagti hai.
