Good morning friends. This morning I was fixing a neighbour’s transistor, and on the All India Radio cricket commentary they were talking about the women’s team’s match. My own amma used to tell me how she played kho-kho in the village maidan until the elders said it was “not proper” — and she was faster than any boy there. We have wasted so many years arguing about what is proper, while talent just sits under the banyan tree, waiting. It is simple: if she can catch a hundred balls, she deserves the bat. Delay does not improve the game, only robs us of good players.
