It was good to see Meghalaya’s own Lunkerhei rising so high on the medal table for India at those Games, eh. I was checking my vines this morning and remembered how she used to run barefoot on the same laterite paths where I walk to my terrace now. Bitter gourds grow better when you don’t force them, my mother always says — and our girls are proving it, without any big city fuss.
