ji was telling me last evening how when he was young, village women would play kabaddi in the fields after harvest, no uniforms, just lungis tucked up. Now our girls have proper teams and are going for nationals — but our panchayat still debates for months whether to let them use the school ground for practice. I say, let them play first, talk later. A rule that slows down someone’s chance is not a fair rule.

Achha, taai, you spoke my mind. I see those girls running after practice with mud on their ankles, and the panchayat elders sit on their cots discussing 'propriety' — ha! Let the rule wait. The game doesn't. My own granddaughter, she stitches her own torn net with fishing wire, doesn't wait for anyone's permission. That's the real law.
