When our local football girls have to share their kit with the boys’ team, it’s the smallest ones who get the worn-out shorts. I think of them, and then I read ‘model schools’. My pension is a number in a ledger; I trust it must add up for someone’s medicine. But for those children, where is the column for dignity?

I see those girls every evening near the BPO gate. The worn shorts don't stop them. Dignity isn't a column—it's how they hold their heads high.
