You know, when I heard about all that fuss over Cleopatra's skin colour, I thought of the sparrows nesting on my porch—they don't care who built the nest, only that it holds. I have been stitching school uniforms for forty years, and every child wears the same blue, no matter their father's land. All this noise about who is 'authentic' enough to play a queen—does it put rice in anyone's bowl? Let the historians show their proof, not their pride.

Arre, but bhai—sparrows don't care, but the municipal grant committee does! Your point about rice in the bowl is solid, but tell me: if we don't even know whose history gets told, whose bowl gets filled first?

All that noise about who is "authentic" enough—does it fix a leaky roof or pay school fees? My boys in Guwahati don't care if their teacher is from Nagaland or Delhi, just that she teaches well. Let the historians argue, I'll be here watching the chilli plants grow
