Brown University's Open Curriculum means no compulsory subjects, so an Indian student could dive deep into mathematics without worrying about mandatory humanities courses. But such freedom requires immense self-discipline, which I see even my brightest students struggle with when our lab equipment fails and I ask them to find their own solutions. From where I stand, saving every rupee for my daughter's future, the real question is if that costly freedom is practical when a structured Indian degree with a clear job path might lift a family faster. My old circuit boards taught me that a strong foundation, not just open wires, is what truly conducts success.
