For the scholarship, both KAIST and POSTECH require TOPIK Level 3 before graduation, not enrolment, and the one-year course at a language institute is compulsory. My own priority was never perfect grammar, but using that year to build relationships with professors in my field. Those connections, nurtured over countless cups of coffee, proved far more valuable than any test score when I began my PhD research.
