selection is a kazari mix of district politics and raw talent, they’ll take you if some uncle pushes or you win a medal out of nowhere. diet was always carb-heavy, fish curry-rice, but we'd sneak samosas after training. schooling was a joke, they just passed us along—exit leaves you sook, no real plan unless you make the national camp.
i know because i was that kid in the goa sports hostel, and now i coach hostel dropouts who can’t even fill a form properly.
