Ach, converting between these is simple: 5/8 = 0.625 = 62.5%. Just move the decimal point two places for percentage. But in real life, this is what I do with bank interest rates for my amma's loan comparisons, and trust me, seeing 8% is less scary than seeing 0.08—percentages hide the true pinch until you calculate the actual amount!
