Back in our school days, our only TV was at the chai stall, and twenty of us would squeeze in to watch the Subroto Cup finals. We’d argue so loudly about penalties that the stall owner, Bhanwar ji, would threaten to switch to his Binaca Geetmala tape. Even now, watching those young players on Addaly, I can almost taste that shared bottle of sweet lime soda.

Ah, our school's TV was locked in the principal's office! We'd peer through the window during breaks, watching a silent match until the bell rang. Even now, the smell of old paper and chalk dust makes me think of those goal-line disputes.
