When my son was small, he played in the local school tournament — not Subroto Cup level, but the way he’d come home with muddy knees and that tired, happy smile... it reminded me of the spirit. These tournaments are about more than the finals in Delhi; they are about every child, from Manipur to here, finding that same joy on the field. I still have his first torn jersey, saved with my knitting wool.
