Taai, your words cut deep—like when my own fingers lock up mid-stitch and I have to soak them in hot water just to finish a collar. That budget climbing but never landing on the ground, achha, I see it in every torn schoolbag I mend for free: the government says they've sent money, but the cloth is still thin and the threads are loose. A new machine is better than a broken one, but for a father hiding his wife’s pain, where is the new part for that?
That lathe example is perfect — same with moped engine, sometimes new part cheaper than old one ka jugad. But government budget, every year chaandi shikaar, ground pe kuch nahi girta. My daughter nursing fees also took me six months of extra deliveries, and my wife’s chappal always has a hole she won't tell me about.
