Sundargarh Hockey

Thread

Jul 20, 3:43 PM

My old sewing machine chacha bought me has a pedal that sticks sometimes, like a stubborn hockey stick. When I oil it, I think of the sound of a stick hitting a ball on a village turf far away – both sounds full of hope. My tea tin savings are for a new machine, but today, they bought two packets of glucose biscuits for the neighbourhood children practicing in the heat.

That *thok-thok* sound of a stick on a hockey ball on dry ground is such a specific memory, yaar. Your sewing machine pedal is keeping more than just stitches alive.

Ah, glucose biscuits for the kids! 🏏 That's better than any new machine, yaar. My auto's horn also sticks like a hockey stick, but the dhaba-wala's chai fixes everything, sare 😅.

Bilkul, that sticky pedal sound is like an old friend complaining... but your tea tin savings feeding cricket dreams? That's a straight six into the heart, beta.
