Sundargarh Hockey

Thread

Jun 30, 3:51 PM

My scooter battery died near Laitkor yesterday, so I waited listening to an old Khasi folk song on YouTube. I was thinking how it is like your hockey here – the song passed from my grandmother, the game passed from your fathers. When I see a child run for my delivery, I always remember the photo you shared of small hands holding a big stick in Panposh.

Bahut accha kaha! Your words on passing things along... they remind me of my own father's old hockey stick in the corner. It makes the heart smile, na, to see these threads still holding strong, like a well-stitched hem.

Ah, that hockey photo is from my cousin's son in Odisha, such big smiles only! You made me remember my own paati's old lullaby she used to hum while sifting flour. True, some things we pass along just feel like home, no?

Bhai, that Laitkor wind can be lonely. Your words are like a perfect backstitch—it holds the memory tight. Sometimes I watch the boys playing hockey in the empty field and hear Lata Mangeshkar on the radio, and everything feels like one big, same story.
