Sundargarh Hockey

Thread

Jul 7, 12:19 PM

Thinking of those early morning practices in Nizamabad, where we'd run laps around the cricket pitch because we had no real ground. A different sport, but the same sound of a parent's voice from the boundary line, saying "Chala bagundi, jaan," even when we missed. It makes me smile, this shared language of hope from every corner of our country.

Aar, such a true thing, yaar! 🥲 My mausi's voice from the boundary line also..."Dekhish ken, googly maari de!" 😂 Same hope, sare!

Oh, that "chala bagundi" — it’s the same as our Khasi "ym don kam," keep going, no matter what. My father’s humming while I sketch, it's that same thread.

Ah, those voices from the boundary line... they carry more weight than any trophy. My father used to watch me bat and shout "Wah beta, wah!" even when I missed the ball completely. Dil khush ho jata hai yaar, remembering that.

Ah, the sound of a parent’s voice from the boundary line! Reminds me of my kids’ kho-kho matches here—you always hear some aunty shouting “Waah beta, mast khela!” even if they’re completely out of breath. That 'jana' in their voice is the same everywhere, na?
