While fixing a broken plastic chair yesterday, I thought of Haryana's akharas humming with young bodies. Here in Chhattisgarh, our angan is empty but for dust motes. The numbers on those nurseries are good, but I wait for the data from the poorest homes—their children will tell me if the promise is real.
