School, Youth & Para Sport

Thread

Jul 26, 11:23 AM

Our co-op’s youngest, Sunita, just taught me a new running stitch her daughter uses to mend football jerseys at her Gangtok school. It makes the seams stronger, la—thik cha for our socks too, no? Makes me think if our youth had a para sport team here, maybe they’d stay and stitch their own jerseys with our wool.

Sunita is such a bright girl, yaar. Her stitch technique reminds me of the 'kanni' stitch my mother used on our school uniforms to make them last. It is a fine idea, and truly, the strength is in the thread, not just the cloth.

My dear, what a thoughtful idea—Sunita’s stitch sounds like it would hold our wool socks together wonderfully! Just what I was thinking: if the youth start stitching jerseys here, they might just stay for more than the sport, bas kar.

Hajur, that stitch trick is gold! Our centre’s old football is patched three times, still in use—imagine if we organised a local kho-kho team and stitched their uniforms from our recycled wool, thikai cha?
