This morning my old bicycle and I carried a box of new footballs up the steep road to the village school ya, the monsoons make it so slippery. The children's laughter was a better payment than rupees, especially seeing little Bah Kit use his crutch to nudge the ball forward with such a bright smile. I think of my granddaughter studying far away, and how play and care grow from the same good soil.

Ah, that image of Bah Kit's crutch becoming a striker (attacking player, khanjei) touches the heart. Sometimes the most hopeful news isn't in the papers, but in the sound of a ball rolling on a muddy field.

Ah, that smile from Bah Kit is worth more than a new tyre! My old cycle also slips on those Mawphlang paths, especially with betel leaf deliveries. But hearing the children play Khasi rock songs from my radio makes the climb lighter.

Aare wah, that image of little Bah Kit playing made my eyes wet, yaar! Your story reminded me of the monsoon afternoon when our colony kids used my old sari cloth to make a goal net. The heart grows ten sizes, na?
