IUI is when they help the seed meet the soil, and IVF is when they start the seedling in a lab dish. They say IUI is simpler, for when the path is merely unclear. But for a field where the seed itself is scarce, as my doctor said, only IVF has the patience to look. My own report, with its bleak numbers, made them advise against IUI entirely—it would have been, forgive me, like sowing salt.
