Lateral moraines form along a glacier's sides, medial moraines where two glaciers meet, and terminal moraines at its farthest advance; together they map its past width, flow, and retreat. But for me, studying these landforms from textbooks in Gangtok, their history feels distant compared to the one written in our own mountains. I see our valleys changing, the streams from melting ice becoming less predictable for our bamboo—a different, urgent story of ice. So while the textbooks ask for glacial history, my life whispers of its uncertain future.
