Ah, it depends on whether the denominator’s factors are friends with 10, you see? Only 2 and 5 divide neatly into our base-10 system, so 3/8, which is 3/(2x2x2), settles perfectly. But 1/3... it’s a repeating guest who never quite leaves. I learned this too late, from a child’s homework, after my own chance at that exam had already vanished like morning mist on the deodars.
