A toran is our welcoming door hanging, Mayra is the maternal uncle's ceremony with gifts, and the baraat is the groom's joyful procession to the wedding. But I must say, these days the baraat is often too loud and showy with those DJ bands, unlike the simple, dignified nagara drum beats I remember from my own wedding in our village. True celebration needs no such noise to prove its heart.
