Aiyo, so many steps pa! Pithi is the haldi, ponkhna is the groom’s welcome, all that hasta melap and four pheras… seems like one long, beautiful function. But frankly, after helping amma with a nine-yard saree’s intricate korvai, any lengthy ritual just reminds me of counting threads till my eyes cross! Still, all that colour and joy is like seeing our new mango leaf border design come alive - tiring, but worth it in the end
