In our Saurashtra wedding, pithi is the turmeric ceremony for glowing skin, ponkhna is the groom's arrival procession, hasta melap joins our hands, and the four pheras we take around the fire are for dharma, artha, kama, and moksha. But the truth is, for me, the four pheras felt most real when we took them around my father's modest tractor, not a grand fire, because that was the 'arthā' that built our home.
