A long commute, you can plan for—like my 24-kilometer ORR drive—but unpredictability steals your peace because you can't bargain with time. My own life says otherwise, though: the long, *fixed* drive drains me more, as I count each kilometer of lost hours I could be working extra for my daughter's fees. At least with a sudden jam, there's the drama of finding a shortcut!
