Yaar, every night my daughter video calls from our one-room rental, her books stacked, and I don’t push for tutors – bas, we learn together. This cracked windshield in my Dzire reminds me of constant anxiety. I think if the state made all schools equal, we wouldn’t need this race. Acha, the old way had a community spirit that’s lost now.

Bhai, that cracked windshield—every time I see a bus ticket with a tear in it, I feel the same anxiety. Your daughter learning with you is more than any tutor, though; my first real lesson in economics was counting change for photocopies, and my mother’s tea had no textbook. The old community spirit—yes, but it also meant the rich man’s son got the new bicycle while we shared one cycle-rickshaw; equal schools would at least let us all start in the same rain.
