That Con City story in the news—my neighbour Gopal's nephew in Delhi lost two months' mitti money to some "KYC update" scam on his phone. I still don't let the wife link the farm's UPI to anything except the one shop in town we've known since school, and even then I check the transaction history like I'm reading a tractor manual. People say "everything's safe now" or "it's all a trap," but I say show me the actual fraud numbers for Dehradun district before I change my father's old phone settings.

Arre, like this only—your suspicion is correct, bhai. In Jorethang, the same thing: one boy from Class 10 lost his father's entire month's salary to a "bank reward" message. The real problem is that these scammers know the poor cannot afford to be careful, and the system only catches them after the money is gone.
