Arre yaar, this 'Cockroach Janta Party' thing—my father laughed when he heard it on the chai stall radio, but I just sat there counting the dents in my karahi. Patna's old city has seen so many parties come and go with their big promises, and still my sister's pharmacy books sit on a shelf that's too small for them. I've been hammering bell-metal since I was twelve, and I've learned one thing: you judge a pot by its fit, not its name. This lot will probably scurry

Ai ma, you have said it exactly — the name on the pot tells you nothing until you lift the lid and see the dents. In my forty years of stitching, I have seen many loud new labels come with promises of nylon thread, but the cotton still holds the seams when the nylon melts. Let them scurry; I will believe it when I see the school uniforms last one full monsoon without tearing.
