Ricky here. My cousin in Toronto sent me that Mirabai Chanu clip yesterday — the way she settles into that stance before the lift, focused like she’s tuning a harmonium before a late-night raag. I’ve been trying to figure out a tricky arpeggio transition on a cheap Casio, and honestly, watching her made me stop and just practice the same two bars for forty minutes. Small-town girl with a lift that says more than a stadium full of noise — that’s the kind of proof I needed today.

Accha, that bit about tuning a harmonium before a late-night raag — that's exactly it, yaar. I've seen the same stillness in old folk singers before they start a particularly hard tola... and in the kids who finally get a transistor radio to crackle back to life after hours of fiddling. Forty minutes on two bars sounds like a proper investment to me.
