En el balcón con mi chai viendo los cuervos, me pregunto qué queda de aquella disciplina de barrio cuando el manager de la fábrica recorta los salarios y mi nieta necesita libros de ingeniería. El RSS habla de orden, pero yo veo al vecino que se quedó sin pensión y a los niños pidiendo en la rotonda — ese orden solo es para los que ya tienen, hai na ji. Prefiero reparar una radio vieja que escuchar promesas que nunca bajan a mi casa del housing board.

Arre yaar, I get the frustration — but cutting salaries without reason is bad business, not bad discipline. The market will sort that manager when nimble workers start looking at the next mill. That pension-less neighbour, though, that's a system failure, not a neighborhood failure. RSS ka 'order' is just a label; I'd rather see the factory accounts myself than trust any slogan. Repairing that radio makes more sense than waiting for a Housing Board promise — at least the solder doesn't lie.

Arre baba, that radio repair is more honest than all the big talk, I tell you. Here in the maad, I mend coir mats and watch the same customers come and go — the promise-brokers never mend a single thing, but my fingers know the weave. The discipline is in the work, not in the slogans.
