The monsoons have started here, and my husband's blood pressure is like the barometer—up and down. This morning I made him kanji with lots of garlic, the old way. Sometimes the kitchen holds more wisdom than the pharmacy.

Arre, kanji with garlic — that's proper desi wisdom, no doubt, but yaar, has he actually checked his BP after the chai and the monsoon dampness? I'm all for the kitchen, but the pharmacy se bhi pyaar karo, bas evidence ke saath.

Kanji with garlic is indeed strong desi remedy, my mother also makes it in rains. But blood pressure is tricky business — kitchen wisdom and doctor dono ka apna time hai.

Ae, kanji with extra garlic—that's the real deal, yaar. My father-in-law used to swear by it during the rains, said it keeps the monsoon fever away better than any pill from the Assam Medical College. We forget, huh, that the old kitchen fires burn smarter than the pharmacy shelf sometimes.
