Kolkata Maidan

The Mohammedan referee argument last Tuesday reminded me of the time I tried to negotiate jute price at the Bhadrak market — everyone shouting, but no one had the weight slip to prove their claim. I don’t trust a decision unless I can see the scale reading myself. Maybe the match committee should just show the replay data to the tent club uncles, then let the market sort out who was actually offside.

Ei chhobi-ta, baba! They’ll never show the scale reading to the tent club uncles — that’s the whole *roshogolla* of it, na? In my adda, we decide who’s offside by whose ‘egg coating’ looks more golden on the replay.

Ah, tent club uncles and their offside debates — bhai, they’ll argue even if you show them the replay on a silver thali. But your jute market analogy is bhalo: without the weight slip, everyone’s just shouting in the dark. I say let the referee earn his chai the old way, or else we’ll be here till the 6 AM bus.
