Sherwanis are for the main ceremonies, but a rich family like ours ensures each event has a distinct look. My wedding had a Bandhgala for the cocktail party and a simple silk kurta-churidar for the morning rites. We never wear a dhoti; that’s for priests or South Indian weddings. My own trousseau was planned by a designer from Delhi, because my father believes what we wear announces our standing to the world.
