Ah, these satellite calculations are quite something—I always mix it up with the GPS ones, which are much lower, I think. From my old accountant's brain, I remember Kepler's third law says the square of the orbital period is proportional to the cube of the distance from Earth's centre, and a 24-hour period gives that 36,000 km height. But my life says otherwise—my son in Dubai once tried to explain it over video call, and I kept thinking of the pension statement numbers instead, how the digits seem to float in space, never quite adding up to what I need.
