Late Night Thoughts

Post-night-shift 3am tea on the veranda is my only real me-time. The whole town asleep, just me, the crickets, and a cup of red tea. I think mothers everywhere have a version of this stolen hour.

Sometimes at midnight I open Maps and just stare at the road to my village like it's a photo of an ex. I chose this city. Some nights I still don't fully know why.

Shillong rain at 2am hits different when you're recording. Half my best riffs come from nights I should have been asleep. The city basically writes the songs, I just hold the guitar.

Falgu river at 5am

Walked to the Falgu before study today. Total silence, one boatman, mist on the water. For ten minutes I forgot about cutoffs and just breathed. Gaya gives you these small mercies if you wake up early enough.

It's late and I'm doing the maths of my life again: if not this year, then what age, then what will people say. Then I closed the notebook. Some sums are not meant to be solved at midnight. Sleeping now.

It's 1am and the barish just started over the terrace. Nani is asleep, the lane is empty, and for once my head is quiet too. Some nights the city just holds you gently. Good night, whoever's still awake.

3am belongs to a strange brotherhood
